In Device Manager this processor is showing as 4 unknown devices and does this anywhere that would show what the processor type is, is there a way to fix this?

I'm not sure if it even has to do with being in Windows 7 7100 or not though.

Forgot to say I just got this processor on May 5th so it's been like that since I first used it.

And when did you install Win 7?

I'd do a complete clean install....

I did the clean install of Win 7 7100 before I got the processor then tried a clean install after and still have the same problem. I did reset my bios to default and that got it showing 4 unknown devices instead of 2.

Its most likely related to your bios on your mainboard not recognising the CPU. Do a bios upgrade and you should be fine.

How would I update bios? I usually have my sister's boyfriend do computer stuff for me and he said that could mess up the motherboard.

Hi there
I've got one of these as well.

Just right mouse click in device manager and re-install driver.

Should find the one from the Intel site.

Cheers

Go to mainboard manufacturer homepage, there will almost certainly be a guide. Some manufacturer's like Asus have a flash utility built into their bios, others can be a bit more of a hassle but by no means a big problem.

ya it's nothing to worry about. It's just what windows is trying to name it as.. it doesn't mean windows is not recognizing your CPU or anything.

get CPU-Z if you wanna check your CPU. that is the best program by far.

it will tell you everything you wanna know.

I dont think a driver update will do the trick to be honest if the CPU isnt being reported correct by the bios.
