Display on startup

Whenever the laptop is switched on the display is in potrait!

Pressing F1 gets it back to normal but anyone know how to get rid of this default setting?

Hi there antgui2001 welcome to the Forums :) try this: Control Panel>Appearance and Personalisation>Display>Change Display Settings

thanks for suggestion - of course that works for now but once laptop is switched off and restarted it automatically startsup in portrait even though when its switched off on landscape

Couild you please fill in your system specs? Click User CP at the top then Edit System Specs it may provide some insight. Please post back when you have done this

its a Dell Inspiron laptop 1545

when you switch it on the dell logo appears in landscape followed by the first windows logo which also appears in landscape but then as soon as windows7 starts it displays in portrait

Could you please fill in your system Specs more thoroughly please.

If you are having problems doing so this forum recommends using Speccy.

I believe this is a problem with your Graphics card but I'm not entirely sure what Graphics card you have so I will post the link to the driver installation page when you have filled in your System Specs and we know what we're dealing with.
