Xbox extender video pausing

I'm trying to watch a SD .wmv file on my tv through my xbox 360. The video pauses every 5 seconds or so for 10 or so seconds. Network is wired with excellent signal. I have allowed sharing to the xbox and extender. I'm pretty much stuck. Any suggestions?

What is the video bitrate of the .wmv you are playing?
and what is your network speed?

I tried an avi and got the same problem. I'll have to get back to you on bitrate and network speed.

Does the cpu of the htpc the wmv resides on seem busy during the pauses?

from the wmv file
data rate: 1272 kbps
Total bitrate: 1400kbps
frame rate 29 frames/second

audio bitrate 128 kbps

i ran tune network from the extender and it showed green bars through the HD quality area.

so i hooked up a OTA antenna to my PC and tried to watch on the TV via media center through my xbox. Same issue. Played perfectly for 10 seconds then paused. I could hear the xbox "crank up" during the pause. Any ideas???

Does it resume like in your orginial post?

It seems to me like the network is too slow.

My last 5 Xbox's have RROD'd so I cant even try replicate your problem...

It resumes only to pause again Ina couple seconds

The network is wired and showing excellent signal strength. Could a crappy netgear router be messing things up??
