Chrome/Chromium on Windows 7 (64bit)

Hey there, as most of you know Chrome doesn't work directly on windows 7 64bit.


There is however a fix out: And thats editing your shortcut to include: --in-process-plugins

The proble with this however is that when I want to open a link from my mail or any other im client of some sort. It will offcourse start it without that line.

My question is: Is there any workaround to make chrome start with --in-process-plugins in any given situation. Maybe someone can edit the source and rebuild it. Or I was thinking of copying the exe file and making the standard .exe file being some sort of shortcut to the copied one with the commandline.

Any ideas?

Yes but the problem if this would be that the bat/cmd won't accept input before it's run making it useless because it would just start with a blank page :/

this is more of 64 bit and chromium in general...
there are users that have reported behavior such as this
(i could of swore that id typed this)

so i guess you have a few choices....
1)go with 32bit W7
2)look (or someelse) at the source and try to see where it went wrong compile it and there you go
3)wait for an update from SRware Inc or google..
4) look at older versions of the iron browser or chrome...
(be wary though as you should disable googleupdater.exe so that it will not try to update itself)

Not going with 32bit anyway :P

Source is about 500 mb big O_O

Update will not come untill W7 gets released (Google told it themselves they won't support W7)

Older versions not gonna work. Problem is probably jscript engine microsoft used.

It's the same thing that makes xfire bugged.

It should be possible to edit the entry in the registry to either include the extra option or point to a batch file which contains it

if you search HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for instances of the chrome executable and add the changes to the calling entry in the branch

example the standard open a http file is at
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command

you may want to take a look- I haven't tried this in seven but it theoretically should be possible

Just an idea :D

OK editing that didn't work. It actually had Firefox there. But I did some research on my own and I discovered that changing this worked but the first page loads a little slower but oh wel the rest works :D

Batch file variable that allows for passing of commandline arguments to whatever the command is in the line...

In fact, it is the same structure as used by Windows on a daily basis for programs to accept additional parameters - such as Open With, in the context menu of all recent Windows...
