Freeware or Shareware that will convert MP3s of 128Kbps to 320Kbps

Does anyone know where I may be able to download free or trial software ( AVS doesn't work ) that will convert MP3 files of 128Kbps to 320Kbps? The majority of the MP3 files I have on my HDD are 128Kbps & I want to convert them to 320Kbps. Any suggestions or ideas???

May I ask the particular reason? Except in rare cases you can't get better output than the input. Some exceptions may be video that has artifacts and a filter may improve it, or auto cropping to 16x9 may improve the appearance on a 16x9 TV. But generally speaking if your source is 128 then there's only so much sound quality to work with. Just converting to 320 should not ordinarily increase the quality.

Unless somebody has come up with some algorithm that gets rid of all the noise and substitutes something else the 320 would just be loaded up with filler bits.

I agree with MilesAhead, you can't go up in quality, 128->320 but you could go the opposite way: 320->128. Not that you'd want to, except maybe to use less diskspace.

Yeah, I don't see the point. If it's already in 128...then it's lost quality. You cannot upconvert and recreate the missing quality.
