just wondering if anyone having problems here with any adapter, or hardware not installed or installed with a correct (win7) driver, and seen the cpu usage spike up and identify it as the wmiprvse.exe spiking up and down about?

this is causing an abnormal usuage on both the cores even while "idle"... talking in the ranges of 35% and higher, got so bad after a long period today i ended up rebooting. I know in my case its this driver i am trying to use, but using it is affecting the cpu hardcore it seems. I have no other hardware that i didnt automatically install with a 7 driver on this pc, audio included.

Hey Digger,

I am having the same problem starting this morning, as far as I know. My spec are as follows:

  • ASUS NETBook 1000HE
  • Windows 7 Professional
  • 2g memory
  • ATOM Processor
  • 160gb harddrive
The machine has been working great until I notice a service running at 300K and my system running at 100%. I had just install to windows gadgets for monitor pc and network, so remove them but still the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

please help if you can!
Thanks,

Hi all,

Just to update my previous submission above. I found something off of the microsoft technet forums about wmiprvse.exe and windows gadgets. I'm not sure if this will cure everyones problem however I uninstalled all of the installed gadgets I had running and voila - problem solved! cpu usage is back to normal.
I also did system restore back before the last two windows system restore. This problem may creep back up after the a new windows update but then at least I will be able to run the system nicely and normally.

Thanks,
MrPCMan
