Bloody Big Grin

If you've ever met some die hard WoW or MMORPG players in real life, you wouldn't have to ask ;)

(no offence intended if you are one though... )

SEB pretty much nailed it. I have lost friends over MMORPGs because they become zombies.

My former brother-in-law became such a freak about it that he never left his bedroom. He had 3 kids and they never saw him. I'd go over to visit and he still wouldn't leave his bedroom. He'd sleep all day and be up on it all night. He lost his job and just played WoW for months on end. The only time he got up was to use the restroom a few feet away. He even made his wife bring him food in the room.

I got my daughter a Nintendo Wii for Christmas. She was complaining that she didn't have many games for it. So I mailed her a Blockbuster gift card to rent some games. What did she do with it? She went to Blockbuster and got candy and Wizard101 cards. What is Wizard101? It's a kids MMORPG. She's only 8 years old.

I loathe MMO games, really.

Not me. I can't justify paying $180 a year on top of the nearly $100 to actually buy the game (+ EPs), and then the roughly $115 a month for the FiOS Broadband just to be able to play it without hiccups and not to mention all of the hardware upgrades costing even more 100's every so often, and the risk of frying out computer components as the intensity of the demands on the system leech the life right out of the computer, very prematurely.

Before you know it, you'll be putting in $1,000's up for this one game that, in my opinion, should be essentially free to play after you've paid them through the nose just to buy the damn disks/software/license. Just MHO I'd imagine...

And no, I'm not suggesting that Blizzard shouldn't get their due worth... but I am saying, isn't the $50-70 per game X millions and millions and millions of people buying them enough for them to maybe, oh I don't know, support their OWN servers out of courtesy for their loyal "customers"?!

Nah... for me, they destroyed WoW. I'll stay with II BNE and III thanks.

I liked that dedicated WoW fanatics would justify the $15 per month cost as "maintenance on servers". It doesn't cost that much. WoW is just a cash cow for them and you have to be real gullible to pay $15 per month for a game.

I've played WoW since it's release but gave up on Retail about 2 years after. I have played private server's since then and been a GM on a few of them including the biggest PS ever which was Scapegaming (Or WoWScape as it was once known). These were not the stupid server's were you could hit level 255 and be godlike (Can't stand them stupid server's) apart from some donor gear that come in handy for helping guildies out in raids.

So there isn't much point in giving any of my details out :P

Oh! And to the OP. Don't forget to go outside once in a while and breathe some fresh air ;)

Played since the launch day until beginning of this year, when 5 years later (shortly before ICC), I got really bored by the way game turned to... An insane instance farm, tons of dailies, stockpiling badges, doing 10 and 25-man heroic raids 6 days a week 5 hours a day... Well, I chose to live and work in the real life :)

Although I still talk almost daily to many of my guildies and we still joke around (when they aren't raiding, of course).

I miss my Tauren druid. I miss the old times when we used to run all green 15-man UBRS, and the 40-man raids. I miss my $800 spent just on monthly fees...

Saryeth/frostdflakes 80 nelf dk and 80 gnome mage respectivley on elune. Contrary to the whole cult of wow and all things mmorgp related, I haven't found that addivtive lure so many suffer from. I'm actually on hiatus from WoW my subscription has been frozen for a good 2 months now and I haven't really felt like going back yet at all. Probably going to keep it like his for the summer and for those of you who suffer from the mmorpg cult or have lost friends family and loved ones to it, I wish you all luck in breaking the habit and just finding something more engaging than an mmorpg to occupy your lives like reading or just quality time with family and friends. Its like a drug addiction, some intervention and counciling is needed to break a bad habbit.
