I just got Fallout 3 on Steam. Its starts up just fine untill I try to make a new game. Then it stops working and I have to shut it down. Im reinstalling it and I update when I try agian.
Could you post your system specs please?
Do other games on your system work fine? Are there other STEAM-versions of games on your system that work fine?

I have Windows 7 and all my other games and steam games but one (Grand Theft Auto 4) work just great. I think FO3 and GTA4 need a better graphics card but I just need a second opinion.
I have GTA IV on Steam. My system is dual-boot (Vista 32/Seven 64). On Vista the game works normally but on 7 it would not start. Simply finding the .exe file in the Steamapps folder and right clicking it then running it in compatibility mode (Vista SP1) made the game work in both OS's.
As for Fallout 3, i have it on disc and run it through Steam (without the disc inserted). It can crash to the desktop but this hardly ever happens. Whereas my son downloaded it from Steam and he simply cannot play it as it crashes soon after start-up.
Maybe using the same technique for the game will make it work?

I don't know what it is about Fallout 3 on the PC but to my knowledge it seems every one has problems with the game crashing if not most. I know I have had the same problem but I can play the game for a certain amount of time before it crashes.
But what you can try to do is make sure that your Drivers are up to date and the ones you can look for specifically are:
-Graphics Card
-Sound Card
But are you able to post your computer specs?
-Operating system
-Processor
-RAM
-Graphics Card
Because that would come in handy if you could
Thank you.
Swifty.

Great news! I found a patch for it! But heres the bad news. I've found a new problem. Its a runtime error that appeared when I was playing for about 30-40 minutes. MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service (Link to patch for anyone who has this problem.)
