USB 3.0 starts transfer at 100mbps, freezes, speed reduces to 3-4mbps

I have a Verbatim pen drive, the capacity is 16 GB. When I start any transfer, say of a 300 Mb file, the first 200 Mb of data gets transferred at about 100 Mbps, then it freezes for at least 2-3...
