I'll make a batch file to automate this and put the backup in my Dropbox at the start of everyday.

That way even if my laptop crashes I won't lose more than a day's worth...

Drat, happened to me now. Lost my pinned items on Word.

It had trouble opening one of my pinned Word docs and prompted me if I wanted to delete the shortcut, I said No as it was just on a network...

Correction, for 32 bit Windows 7 the GB limitation is 3 GB.

I'm still not clear if I can use any Windows 7 key for either a 32 bit install or 64 bit install.

My laptop came with a 32 bit...

Try disabling Windows Aero and see if that resolves the issue.

If you want to minimize everything before going to standby... well, maybe you can take the habit of pressing Windowskey+M every time...
