JPEG files missing

I can't see my JPEG files in comptuer / C Drive, but I know they are there.
I can open them in photoshop through file / recent.

It's as if Windows is not indexing the JPEG files..

I can't get IE 8 to open. I can with the 64bit version, but the 32 bit won't work. My wife's laptop is doing the same thing and she's running XP.
