i have meet this problem also,
my step is set the BIOS HDD to IDE mode, and use necessary drivers only from the Acer 4540 support DVD

i have meet this problem also,
my step is , in BIOS i set it tu IDE , and try to find the driver in Driver Manager in CD support Acer 4540 itself.
