Figured it out. Put it in the case instead of going through USB. Recognized it right away. Went ahead and made 2 partitions. Thanks for the suggestions and help.

Been all over the web but no luck. Trying to format this drive for 1 partition (4TB) to use as a data backup, not boot drive. Have initialized as GPT. Still will not let me format to 4GB. Just 2TB....

Its nice they do this but whats the point when they let the NSA freely snoop? Not much difference than the bad guys, or basically anyone who snoops without the user permission is a bad guy!

Compaq computers are the cheap line of computers. Besides a good cleaning (remove keyboard), I would suggest reapplying thermal past to the cpu. Check to see if the fan is mounted properly.

Did both. OS is on a samsung 840 pro 128gb and backing up to a 500gb WD (second SATA port). The motherboard is a intel BOXDZ77RE75K. Funny it lets me do a disc image but not back up.
