I found my solution was to uninstall anti virus programme that was pre-installed on Win7 laptop when purchased and install same as on xppro laptops.
I use WORKGROUP not home....
works OK

I have now bought a USB DVD/CD unit can I upload from the disks I have for programmes such as office and psp 7 and will they work on Win 7?

Just bought new note/laptop HP pavilion dm1 (For travel purposes- have to put into hand luggage on the cheap airlines we have to use in Europe)This has win 7 .

I had all the problems I've read in this forum
solved
Uninstalled Norton and installed PCtools on both
worked immediatly.
I had Pctools on xp and new laptop came with the .....p...
