To answer your question, in theory Driver Verifier should cause a system to BSOD much more...

I would recommend doing at least 6-7 passes of Memtest. Memtest usually shows errors within the first few passes, but it's best to do at least 6-7 to be sure. I've seen Memtest not strike an error...
