2) In Googleing AHCI, it appears that my NIVIDA equiped motherboard does not require this. I can find no way to do what you suggest...

I have 2 computers on a home network (both were running Win XP Pro). Obtained Win 7 Upgrade disk fom Microsoft and installed Win 7 on Machine 1. OK!
Now trying to install Win 7 on Machine 2.
