I'm familiar with how to rebuild the entire thumbnail cache and all that, but I've searched all over and for the life of me couldn't find anyone else asking if this was possible, let alone a solution...

Thanks for the reply, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with MPC, that's just the media file icon that's used as the default when a thumbnail can't be generated. Like I said, the problem disappears...
