Just a quick post - Tkbell is part of Realplayer, and it doesn't give phantom sounds. It's an advertising component IIRC, but anytime you use Realplayer, it adds it back no matter if you disable it...

I also have the same issue, and it's now April 2012. Just found this out, and it worked fine before....so I gotta investigate it but nothing else crashes so it's something to do with the game itself....
