It sounds like the person has a DSL connection, that requires manual PPPoE dial-out from the computer, to connect to the internet.

It sounds like power settings are interfering. You should check...

2. 100gb would safer. Fortunately, Windows 7 includes a partition modification tool. So, should the need arise, you can always change the size of the partitions.

Avast (free) is what I recommend and use. AVG Free will also work, as will PC Tool Anti-Virus Free.
