I'm pretty sure it's the audio settings, make sure your settings aren't set to like 5.1, 7.1 or so, usually does the trick. It's because movies have the ability to play the voices on your center...

I think it's a mechanical error, you should NOT use your drive again and go to a store that specializes in this kind of stuff. They will check your drive and make a clone on a new drive.
