I've already tried that, and the list of files being loaded goes down to the last one, and then it's the same fleeting BSoD

BSoD at startup

When I start up my HP DV4-1211TU, it goes into the 'starting windows' phase as usual, but as soon as that's done, there's a BSoD which lasts for a fraction of a second - hence I don't know what Blue...

I used to have trouble with my volume like that as well, no matter what I did it'd just go back all the way up. It just started working normally after a while.

There isn't a stereo mix option? Usually I open up Audacity, Audition or whatever and select the Stereo Mix as the input, and it works fine.
