Keep your machine clean and there is no use for a 3rd party firewall if you are behind a NAT firewall which most routers provide out of the box. If you are paranoid or not an experienced user then a 3rd party firewall may benefit you.

With that being said I still use Windows 7 Firewall Control which works wonderfully for blocking whatever I deem fit.

I basically agree with you. However, when the grandchildren visit, I like the ease with which Comodo blocks outgoing. ZA saved me from a nasty one time because of this ability.

If paranoid I would go with commando though its complicated I'm told that anti spy ware combined with windows fire wall with aggressive settings and a good anti virus is enough. Though I never found a really evenly balanced firewall.

Tiny firewall, been using it for a couple months and it's really good and free. Not to hard to learn to use and setup and passes firewall test. .. Found out about it from a member here on the fourms but just wanted to add it on to the list here.

PC Tools firewall is no longer free (although I think you can still get it for free from CNET).
