I use that Emsisoft Anti-Malware and Spybot S&D tool. They both are good tools. I also recommend Trend Micro HijackThis tool

I use NIS 2013 as my main protection with the firewall set to MANUAL so I decide what gets net access and what don't. I use Malwarebytes 7 Pro to actively run along side NIS2013 with no issues. And as a final and serious last line of defense I use Hitman Pro 3.7 Bld 183 to scan once a week. It uploads suspicious files to Bitdefender, G Data, Ikarus, Dr. Web and Emsisoft and you can also reg with virustotal for free and get a personalized API Key for Virustotal to be added to the list too! Bewtween these 3 apps you have:

Your base AntiVirus and Firewall (NIS2013)
An excellent anti-malware that can run along with your AV or just do scans if you prefer (Malwarebytes 7 Pro)
The 'final word' on any threat that gets cross referenced with multiple apps in the cloud as well as the venerable VirusTotal. (Hitman 3.7 Pro)

Granted, none of the versions I use are the free/trial ones, but when used together they present a VERY good defence.

This is a very old thread but Malwarebytes all the way. It's the best anti-malware ever.

Qihoo 360 Total Security + Unchecky. This couple works perfectly, if you won't interfere in their work.

    Re: Qihoo

But, as always, the choice of AV (or, to stay on-topic for this pinned forum thread, the anti-malware) is up to the user.
There are only a small handful of specific "anti-malware" products on the market that are designed to provide layered protection alongside an anti-virus.

(And this is a very old thread.:))

    Just saying,

Until recently I thought the same, but I believe the new kid on the block, Zemana Antimalware Premium, is even better. Superior protection and detection, and faster scans. A few false positives but this is improving.

Personally I leave "Activate Pandora Real Time Analysis Technology" unchecked.

Just to update regarding developments with Zemana products. They have discontinued their free version of AntiLogger, and have combined their premium versions of AntiMalware and AntiLogger into one paid product, Zemana AntiLogger 2.21, which includes all the features of the previous two paid products:

    https://www.zemana.com/en-US/AntiLogger

They have been giving away free lifetime licences through various outlets over the last couple of weeks so keep your eyes peeled for them if you're interested (I was lucky enough to get one).

Another product I've been impressed with but thought it was a little too buggy until its latest release to recommend is VoodooShield (free version). The latest 3.33 Beta release is very stable and provides an additional layer of defence on top of your anti virus. Also ideal for locking down grandad's computer so he doesn't inadvertently mess things up:
