Google Chrome Patched Against Zero-Day Flash Vulnerability
by ARUPCHOU on MARCH 18, 2011
Robust security is one of the major reasons for popularity of the Chrome Browser. Google has taken every step to ensure that the browser remains secure from malware attacks and malicious program. During the recently held Pwn2own contest, the browser remained intact and could be hacked. The search engine giant on Tuesday released
Chrome 10.0.648.134 which is fixed against
Zero-Day Flash vulnerability. The new release contains an updated version of Adobe Flash player.
Vulnerability Exploited By Attackers
It is to be noted that Adobe had said that the vulnerability is being exploited by attackers who use Shockwave files placed in MS Excel sheet. However, according to Adobe officials, the attack has been targeted to limited number of organizations. So at present there is no need for users to get restless and panic.
With Google patching the vulnerability for the Chrome browser, it has become the first browser developer to have patched the vulnerability. Other firms are expected to receive the Adobe Flash player update next week, but as a part of Google’s collaboration with Adobe, it receives flash updates more regularly and quickly than others. Because of such initiatives, Chrome has become one of the most sought after web browsers in the market and the market share of the browser has seen tremendous rise in the last couple of years.
