Yeah same here went without a hitch & it looks a lot like the first MSE, not a lot of difference but I suppose it's early yet for big changes if any.

Looks less shiny than version 2 & more flat in the colours.

It's my understanding that MSE will remain a free product. However, once the final version is released, the Beta will no longer be eligible for continued tech support. Beta users will received an email when the final version is released and be given the opportunity and instructions to "upgrade" MSE.

Downloaded it and am disappointed. RAM is no better then version 2.1, and they made it even simpler, if that were somehow possible. Now all there is, is a "real time protection" setting and little else. Also, the network inspection process is no longer active in task manager. It may be included in the main process, but I can't tell.

I for one am very unimpressed.

I was able to install without any problems on 11/29/11. Did first update with no problems.

Ran first quick scan and it took almost 2 hours. Subsequent quick scans were taking about 12 minutes. (Previous versions including very first 1.0 beta and last 2.1 version completed first quick scan in about 45 minutes. Subsequent quick scans were completed in about 3 minutes.)

Ran first full scan and after 24 hours it was less than 1/4 finished. Cancelled scan, uninstalled 4.0 beta, did general computer cleanup of cookies, temp files, etc.

Reninstalled 4.0 beta and did initial update with zero problems. Same exact results with scans. First quick scan 2 hours 11 minutes, subsequent quick scans finish in about 13 minutes. First full scan less than 1/4 finished after 24 hours and about 3/4 finished after almost 48 hours.

Same results on 3 different computers. (A Dell Inspiron laptop running XP Pro w/SP3, a Dell Vostro running 7 Pro x86 w/SP1, and a Sony Vaio running 7 Pro x64 w/SP1.) The Vaio is the one still doing full scan after about 48 hours. Any thoughts?

Wow! I never did a scan while it was installed (test machine is a fresh system image from a clean install), but those scan times are crazy. I'm just not sure of the direction that MSE is trying to go?

UPDATE: Failed to mention all computers also running MBAM Pro. During previous installs of earlier MSE betas and final releases I simply disabled real time monitoring of MBAM and MSE installs/scans went without a hitch. I also uninstalled older MSE versions before installing latest versions.

With beta 4.0 I finally decided to try uninstalling MBAM Pro rather than just disable real time monitoring. And I left version 2.1 in place and tried installing beta 4.0 over it (upgrade install.) Something seems to have worked. After installation completed I reinstalled MBAM Pro. First quick MSE scan took 41 minutes, 2nd quick scan just over 3 minutes. First full scan completed in 1 hour, 40 minutes. Second scan took 51 minutes. Looks like beta 4.0 is working.
