Latest Flash Player streamlines update process 3/29/12 Quote: Adobe has added a new feature to the latest Flash Player update that will be sweet music to the ears of system admins the world over.
Flash Player version 11.2 for Windows, OS X and Linux, introduces an automatic, silent update mechanism to help users stay up-to-date with the latest releases. Given the number and severity of vulnerabilities affecting Flash Player, this is a very good thing indeed and will make PCs a lot harder to the bad guys to get into.
The latest Flash Player can be downloaded from Adobe’s website. During installation Windows users will see a new dialog box prompting them to enable automatic updating.
If you are a Google Chrome user then the browser has been automatically updating the Flash Player plugin for you. Read More: Latest Flash Player streamlines update process | ZDNet | My System Specs |

Jim Same here, I prefer to have some control over what/when something gets installed.
Hence the reason I didn't update Secunia. From what I've read, it just automatically updates things without giving you the option to choose when. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Hell oh Well OS Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93GHz Memory Not much with my ADHD Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4350 Monitor(s) Displays I have one...It's bright. I have it set to disabled, yet Adobe doesn't seem to care what you select. Start here, Sneaky Adobe Flash Player Background Updater - Security | DSLReports Forums
and then when you check Task Scheduler you find this,
Funny, I could have sworn I opted for it to NOT check for updates ever. The sooner Flash/Adobe dies, the better. Then again it is an easy fix just by deleting the task, but it shouldn't have been there in the first place. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS Win 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Phenom II x4 955 @ 4 GHz. When you downloaded the latest flash player the option box if checked said that Adobe will notify you first before it downloads the new player. It didn't give the option to never update.
I'm fine with the notify first and let my manually update. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number hp pavilion 6680t OS win 7 home premium 64 bit CPU core i5 760 Motherboard iona (from MSI) Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ati 5450 Sound Card real tek 888 |
