If you’re asked to confirm or deny a Facebook account cancellation request, ignore it. Facebook will never ask you this, and chances are someone is looking to install malware on your computer.

That's for sure! You have to go into the account settings in order to start the cancellation process yourself. Then you will be prompted for filling out a survey about why and whatever.

Thanks for the warning Brink!

I never click on anything on Facebook unless I'm absolutely sure. But I do like to warn people if any of these types of scams appear. I know a few people who've had their accounts hacked in the past.

Back in late 2011 there were several reports about FB accounts being hacked. What most often fail to realize is that when entering into a public domain some degree of caution is advised to prevent becoming a victim.

With FB and Twitter being popular social networks across the board scammers will try just about anything!
