Read more at:A buggy update released Friday by security vendor McAfee for its consumer and enterprise antivirus products, left the computers of its customers unprotected and, in some cases, unable to access the Internet.
The incident affected both home and business users, some of whom were still trying to sort out the problems caused by the updates on Monday and Tuesday, according to messages posted on McAfee's community forums and Facebook page.
The problems were introduced by McAfee updates DAT 6807, released on Friday, and the subsequent DAT 6808, depending on which product was used.
After installing these updates some home users started encountering errors when accessing the McAfee Security Center console, which prevented them from performing any action inside the program. Other users experienced a loss of Internet connection on their computers.

IMO MucAfee is one of the worst infections we deal with here.
The only way it works well is uninstalled.
It's been a natural evolution on the other end of the spectrum to near unanimity on Microsoft Security Essentials with the Win7 firewall. Once Avast bloated (and gadgeted) up it was dropped from recommendations seen here within six months.
Never liked McAfee. Had so much problems with it for so long. They still haven't fixed these solid white windows, even if it's a brand new computer. They're like the number one Blue Screen causer. If people pay for something they should definitely have something in return.
McAfee isn't quite there.

Found this interesting. The tech in the station next to me literally just resolved an internet connectivity issue deemed related to McAfee yesterday. Uninstalled McAfee, problem went away.
McAfee is malware. I thought when Intel bought them in Aug of 2010 they would fix the problems McAfee was having. Well that didn't happen. Intel's attitude of getting things done and done correctly does not seam to have crossed over to the McAfee corporation.
