Quote:
Only hours after Oracle released its latest Java 7 update to address active exploits, security researchers found yet another vulnerability that can be exploited to run arbitrary code on systems that have the runtime installed.

I think unless you regularly use an application that requires it, uninstalling it is the recommended thing these days. It is getting ridiculous that they had to make an out of schedule update since the exoploit was so bad,. Now 1 day later, new vulnerabilities in that update are identified. If I didn't need it for Go To, I would uninstall it myself. A Guy

If it wasn't for Minecraft, Java would never have found it's way into my system to begin with, I still wish there was a no-Java version of Minecraft for that reason.

Same here. My bank back in my native Finland uses Java for online banking; I am in Germany so I can not go personally to bank whenever I want to, my only possibility is to use their online banking which requires Java. It sucks!

"Oh Noes! Not Again!"

Tell me it isn't true!

I only run Java in a Windows VM.
Hopefully that gives me a little bit of protection.

Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat, I can't ditch it because the schools site requires it to run (along with OpenOffice) so I'm stuck with it.

I do really like the Add On someone (I forget who) suggested to me a while back, QuickJava for FF. I can easily keep it disabled unless I absolutely need it.

After building a knowledge of C++ and C# (two languages I haven't learnt with or programmed with for awhile), I went onto looking at Java, but after even more exploits being found within the JRE is Java even worth learning?
