Some sobering reading

Found this to be some seriously sobering reading but at the same time thought well can't one send emails using an encrypted message?

I am no expert but the though it did cross mu mind.

The article re Facebook at the bottom makes for hilarious reading too I mean where do these people get off??

Yes, the FBI and CIA can read your email. Here's how | ZDNet

Ever read the Dan Brown novel Digital Fortress?? It's a great book about the NSA and electronic privacy groups...and the controversy between them. I didn't think much of it when I got it for Christmas a few years ago...but now it's become one of my most read novels (judging from the condition of the spine...paperback.)

Yes fellas I thought it was too I know they monitor known child abuse sites and it just leaves me wondering how easy it would be to now monitor those iPhones pads whatever they call them - I call them something else not to be printed but.....

I know most of the people that I know who have those things are really quite irresponsible using them and I don't think they have much of a clue as to how much they could be being watched or used.

As I mentioned it is a wonder we don't encrypt everything we do via emails most of all but I suppose even that is not 100% foolproof eh/

Who would have thought it would come to this 20 year ago - me least of all!

Well ....... lol.... guess I'm a little more paranoid than you about some things. (or maybe in general?) My old old cell phone recently died for good and I have NO plans on getting another because of this : http://http://news.cnet.com/8301-100...ing-by-police/ My poor old cell phone was probably the last in the world to NOT have a G.P.S. on it. No I'm not a criminal in the accepted sense of the word. But .... who knows when some bored/vindictive and or just some looney person with authority ....... Once you start with this stuff its hard to know when or where it will stop. I'm quite vocal at times and speak my mind very bluntly on a few political forums I go to and my political bent is not always in fashion. I'm a child of the 60's and lived through the riots and mayhem of that wonderful era. I watched police pick and choose BEFOREHAND who they were going after with their clubs and it was not always the most active or vocal people either. Been to concerts at Lorilei Germany where the German police and American M.P.'s stood on the ruins (I guess they were) with binoculars and walkie talkies picked out and directed other "officers of the law" to drag off and arrest peaceful non-violent concert goers. One particular concert didn't stay peaceful BECAUSE of this. (google "Lorilei and Jefferson Starship" and don't believe what the stated cause was.... I was THERE) Anyway...... no tablets, no cell phones no ipaddles for me. Even been experimenting with the Tor network recently.lol So I know I'm rambling this morning and I apologize (only on 2nd cup of coffee ) I wonder where the answer to personal privacy lies on the net?

Well that makes tow of us indie my old Samsung is not going to get replaced in the foreseeable future and just for the record I dislike intensely those rotten apps more than anything.

This sort of reminds me of a US TV serial program called "Person of Interest" that involves some government machine that has tabs on all people who are at risk of getting murdered. Very strange but compelling viewing.

Oh good ref mate.

Well, as Matthew Broderick so famously said in WarGames:

"Hey, I don't believe that any system is totally secure."
