1) How and why is Java so easily exploited so quickly?
2) Why won't Oracle fire everyone and hire people who know how to implement proper security and patches into their current failure of a platform?
I REALLY wish I could get rid of @#$%^&* Java but I have no choice, being I can't access the Schools site without it.
I have lucked out so far. The only site I really needed it for had an alternate solution.
Borg is this possible?
Set up a browser for your academics. Then use another browser for surfing, etc.
This might work until Java catches up with the real world. Ideally web sites will go away from Java.
Actually, I'm using something called QuickJava (For FF), recommended to me by someone in this forum a while back. It sits on your bottom browser bar & you can shut it off & on with just a click instead of having to go digging through the settings.
Still, I wish I could take Java off.....Allows quick enable and disable of Java, Javascript, Cookies, Image Animations, Flash, Silverlight, Images, Stylesheets and Proxy from the Statusbar and/or Toolbar.

I had one downloader program that doesn't work without it, but I rarely used it. GoToMyPC even works without it, you just have to launch it manually. A Guy
Does this threat only apply to browsers? I've disabled Java in Firefox, but I also use Vuze which apparently uses Java. Is it safe to use Vuze? Thanks.
