It has been posted on the Forum before but like 4wd just posted; just cover the lens.
Not running security scans for months is just plain lazy or dumb.

One of the first things I did after I got my notebook was to put a circle of tape over the webcam lens and uninstall all the webcam software. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY needs (nor wants) to see me first thing in the morning when I get on the computer!

Am sure it's all been posted before, but find this recent article a good reminder about how amazingly wrong things can go on the net when one is not taking care of things, being lazy \ thick \ without knowledge etc.
