This is why it's getting out of hand

Facebook is a major violator they have your phone number posted if you use your phone to check messages

I added a friend from a a certain chat the dude called me on my phone i was not Happy about that unless i give you permission that is a no no

I had to tell him politely to keep it where it needs to be if i want to establish anything else i'll let you know I am now working on fixing my facebook so this will never happen again

This is a easy thing for some to overlook but if you think about people can locate you and try to go to your home and that will end ugly if they are uninvited

Well; that is why if your smart(unfortunately; some people arent so smart though) you wont be crazy enough to put your address in your facebook profile even though facebook put a spot for you to fill it in. Fortunately its not required to have a fb profile.

You don't have to put in your address doesn't mean much when you have to put in your phone number.
With your phone number any body can find your address.

All of which is why I do not and will not have a Facebook account again. Had one years ago but even THEN I thought they were too intrusive. Guess I'm showing my age about this topic but I see no use for any of the social media. (Full disclosure I have an unused twitter account) I'm no Luddite but after a certain point, which varies from person to person, how much of our private lives do we want out there? My answer, which I know is not possible these days is none. I come pretty close though. My footprint in this world is mighty light compared to the majority.

I definitely hear ya on having a light footprint. But yea i forgot you can find someones address with just knowing their phone number. The only reason i have my contact info in my profile is so my fb friends and only friends can contact me via phone if wanted/needed, Otherwise, i would have left out my contact info.

What can I say? The less big business, the government, and Google knows about me the happier I am. Of course to me all three of those are pretty much the same. I DO see some advantages to social media and the like, such as this : Kentucky woman brutally pistol-whipped by husband says Facebook saved her life | The Raw Story

But for me, I'll take my chances . I'm operating under the assumption that the NSA is already tracking/flagged me by the way. Due to some of the sites I frequent (no not terrorist) and the critical comments I've made of this whole sorry affair. Hope they have fun (Hi there whoever ELSE is reading this, how can you sleep at night?)
