Intel kills off McAfee Security brand

Quote:
Throughout the years of John McAfee's madman antics, the founder of computer security firm McAfee Security always had his name associated with the shield logo of McAfee Antivirus and its variations.

But with a few sentences casually thrown out to the Consumer Electronics Show audience in Las Vegas on Monday evening, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich sounded the death knell for the McAfee brand, at least as far as it relates to consumer security.

The software will remain unchanged except for changing the name from McAfee Security to Intel Security. The iconic red McAfee shield will remain, for now, and some components of the mobile versions of the software now will be free to use on iOS and Android devices. The rebranding is expected to take up to a year to complete.

I wonder if that's a wise decision...rebranding Macrapee as Intel.

I just hope that Intel will make this AV better because currently, it has spyware/virus behavior. (Anyway, that's what I think)

I'm sure that will do No good,
The product it's self is the problem not the name of it,
Intel "ouch" I never knew that I may have to rebuild without the Intel name now,
Cheers.

They certainly could have made a wiser choice. Hopefully they won't integrate it in their future chips.

I dont think it will do much good for this to happen either. It will tarnish the good reputation of Intel. Gotta love to hate the antics of this so called "madman". And to think of what it has done for the consumer.

When Intel bought McAfee I had the thought they would repair McAfee and use the technology to use as a security method to have on their hardware. After all the time all Intel could come up with is renaming it.
Very sad to drag the Intel name down to the level of McAfee.
The name isn't the problem; the program is the problem.
