PayPal the Most Heavily Phished Brand of the Last Three Months.

According to German security vendor Avira, PayPal was the target of over 50% of phishing attacks throughout February. Despite a significant decline over January being observed, PayPal remains the most heavily phished brand.

Avira's phishing statistics for February reveal that 52.92% of the total number of unique phishing URLs registered last month masqueraded PayPal-related services. This represents a deviation of 31.03% over January, when the company accounted for 61.89% of such links.

I don't use PayPal. I know all about phishing; but still, I have a problem using that particular application and buying online products with it.

I have used PayPal for years on eBay with over 700 transactions, with NO problems.

But I have been Phished many times by the phoney emails. Even to several of my email accounts that are not associated with my PayPal acct. So that is just random Phishing of anybody's email account, to see if they can get lucky

You just have to keep your guard up & be smart about those emails

I, too, have used PayPal for years with no problems. And you are right, the email account linked to PayPal has nothing to do with the phishing.

That's not PayPal's fault.

It just means that one has to be vigilant when seeing an email purportedly from PayPal and make sure you are actually on the PayPal site if you are redirected to PayPal.

I used to get phished regularly for PayPal. I reported every one to spoof@paypal.com with the complete header info. Haven't had a PayPal phish in 6 months now. Maybe they're scared of me......
