Correct me if im wrong but dont these apps have the same security flaws as adobe? just not targeted like adobe. Assuming adobe has the most money to put into there products (compaired to its compeditors), i find it hard to believe reader is hands down less secure.

Either way facts are facts, maybe it is a good idea to stay away from reader untill those security figures change.

As I understand it, Foxit has the same vulnerabilities as Adobe, but Sumatra does not. I saw a statement in the Sumatra FAQs to the effect that it was not vulnerable.

Yes but it still has vulnerabilities. And those are only found by determined hackers or by accident by testing exploits for other products on it. No hacker cares about finding vulnerabilities in fox it when it has a 1% market share.

SO sure, you are safer using it (for now) mainly because of it's obscurity. The only thing keeping FF or Opera any safer than IE (Though FF has had a LOT of vulns itself as it's populatity is rising.)

Oh and for comparison, IE..

Considerably LESS over similar time periods and lesser numbers per patch as well.

Another vote for Foxit. I try to avoid Adobe every chance I get. I do not have Adobe Reader installed on our machines.

Foxit is good, but the "Ask Toolbar" is bundled with it. Uninstall the toolbar in Programs and features, then go to C:\Program files\ and delete the Ask folder.

or, uncheck the option for Ask on the installer (disguised as a "i have read the eula" mark)
