    Jack - Just FYI

If you open services, click on a service, and right click and select properties there is a dependencies Tab - this shows the services that need to be running for the service selected to work correctly, and also those that require the selected service to be running in order to run. This can be useful if you have a particular service that will not start - checking if all the services required to be running are running can be a good way to troubleshoot.

Of course as you say the actual reason for why these interlinks are required is only available to a select few inside Microsoft

Services - Restore Default Services in Windows 7

[EDIT:1. i had to go for two changes ie (a) FDR PUB> start from manual to auto, as said by Brink and BV; (b). Windows Defender service from disabled to auto,delayed.2. BITS should start as Auto Delayed as said by Brink & my pc , but black viper says it to be Manual, at least not for my runinig pc ! it probably take cares for things running automatically in the background, security apps, windows updates, etc. 3. Security Center service is told to be logged on local service on windows 7 by Brink & my pc but, BV says it to be local system !4. facing problems finally i went for uninstalling Windows Defender in win 7 How To Disable, Uninstall or Remove Windows Defender • Raymond.CC ]

All independent tests that have been performed since XP, which did benefit from service tweaks, have concluded that the tweaks performed on the NT series 6 Operating systems, (Vista to 10), are either neutral or negative, so are best left as they come from Microsoft.
Unfortunately, my own independent testing has proven over and over (since windows became an operating system) that I can reduce DPC latency and thereby improve the quality of professional audio post production (in-the-box) by using these tweaks that are deemed neutral/negative. This is not the vast majority of the market share for Microsoft and as a specialized purpose, the only really good source of information for "tweaking" the Windows operating system closer to RTOS for processing an audio data stream was found at BlackViper's website. If the site is gone, it will be missed by music producers... globally! A huge benefit under the hood goes unnoticed by those not relying on it for their purpose. Microsoft know what processes need to run, and when, but they don't seem to consider what processes need to stop during music production.

Thanks to BlackViper for all the music you helped bring into the world by freely sharing your wealth of information for all these years. Your site will be missed by specialized PC builders like me.

I totally agree that for specialist purposes it may be required to fine tune the system load used by services, (my history includes a lot of work using windows to control Industrial processes- Including critical processes Enviromental management, Nuclear monitoring, Etc).

Windows XP did need a lot of tweaking on the services side, which for general use is no longer needed on modern operating systems - If anyone wishes to try to gain advantage by tweaking services then that is their perogitive - and I wish them good luck

I just try to warn users to not expect the kind of improvements seen under XP when the whole services ecosystem was in it's infancy
