I much preferred DameWare over UltraVNC. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 3.2GHz Motherboard Asus P5Q PRO Turbo Memory 4GB DDR2-800 Graphics Card MSI Radeon HD 5850 Sound Card Creative Labs Audigy2 ZS Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 225BW PSU Corsair HX650 Case Antec Nine Hundred Hard Drives (2) 1TB Samsung F1, (2) 1.5TB Samsung F2, 1TB Samsung F2, 2TB Samsung F3 |

It depends what you want to use it for. I use VNC quite a bit in my work to access remote servers from my home or office and it works fine for that as I am on the same network (office) or VPN (home). Of course each machine I need to access has been configured with the VNC server running.
For providing remote assistance to friends/family (especially those that are not too computer savvy) I prefer TeamViewer because I just need to have them download it and run it, no setup for them to do. Also, TeamViewer has a chat function so we can talk as I provide remote assistance. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built, Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop OS Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit), Win 7 Pro (32-bit) CPU 3.4Ghz 3770K i7, 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo Motherboard Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H, Dell Memory 8G, 3G Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5770, Mobile Intel 965 Sound Card High Definition Audio (Built-in to mobo) Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2409W 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard IBM Model M - used continuously since 1986 Mouse Microsoft PSU Antec Case Antec 100 Cooling CM 212+ Hard Drives 128G SSD OS; 1.5T & 2T Data on Desktop, 320G for laptop Internet Speed 1.5M down 1.2M up :-( Other Info Also have an Acer Aspire netbook, a home-built AMD Dual core (Minecraft server) and home-built Pent 4 all running Win 7. Thanks for all the suggestions!
My next question is, I need to access my home computer when I am on vacation. I wont be able to access Team viewer at home. Is the there a piece of software that will allow me to tap in to my home connection without anyone at that computer? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-540M @ 2.53GHz Motherboard Hewlett-Packard 1522 Memory 4GB DDR3 System Memory Graphics Card 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5830 Graphics Monitor(s) Displays 15.6" diagonal Full High Definition LED Screen Resolution 1920x1080 PSU 6 Cell Lithium Ion Polymer Battery Cooling NZXT Aluminum Notebook Cooler With 3 120mm Adjustable Fans Hard Drives 500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive Other Info Envy 15 What is best free remote desktop application? problems?
