With Windows Live Mail, as with Outlook Express, one can drag emails to Explorer folders and save them as .EML files.
When using WLM with Windows 7 RC, if one simply selects (highlights) the .EML file that is in an explorer windows, the .EML file modified date is updated to the current date/time, even without actually opening the .EML mile. This causes problems with sync and backup programs, since one can inadvertently re-datestamp .EML files just by highlighting them, thus marking them for sync/backup (and also one loses their chronology).
This behavior does not exist with WLM or with Outlook Express under XP -- the file modify date is unchanged even if the .EML file is opened.
Does anyone know whether/how this behavior can be turned off.
Thanks
