Programs Will Not Install Win7 Ultimate x64 I am unable to install either Nero 10x or Roxio Easy Media Creator 2010 Pro on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Both are stopped before completion and no error message is given as to why install failed. I even turned off the User Account Control and they still both failed to install. My system uses 4 separate removable HD's for 4 different OS's, including WinXP Pro SP3 x32, WinXP Pro SP2 x64, and Vista Ultimate SP2 x64, as well as Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Both programs have been installed on all these other OS's, they just will not work with Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

I tried Compatibility Mode. I even turned off the UAC, but both programs refuse to install. Whats gets me is that they both installed and work perfectly in Vista Ultimate x64. It makes no sense. I use separate HD's for each OS using removable HD cases. The rest of hardware is same for all 5 OS's I use. I recently upgraded to an ASUS Matrix ROG 5870 Platinum, but as the first video card lasted less then 24 hrs, I never had a chance to test to see if this might have cause the problem. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Homebrew OS Win7 Ultimate x64, openSuSE 12.2 x64 CPU AMD FX-8150 & AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE Motherboard ROG Crosshair IV Extreme & M4A79 Memory Muskin XP3 Enhanced Redline - 16 GB & Muskin XP2-6400 - 8 GB Graphics Card ASUS Matrix ROG 5870 Platinum 2 GB & Radeon EAH 6850 Sound Card Razer Barracuda AC-1 7.1 c/w Razer Barracuda HP-1 Gaming HP Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2407 WFP, Dell 2408 WFP, Dell U2410 Screen Resolution 1920 x 1200 - All 3 monitors Keyboard Logitech diNovo Edge x 2 Mouse Logitech MX Revolution, 2 x Logitech Wireless Trackball M570 PSU Corsair AX 1200 x 2 Case Lian-Li PC-77FB & Lain-Li PC73SL Cooling Noctura NH-D14 & Thermalright Silver Arrow Hard Drives All SATA, 7200 RPM. 4 x WD 500 GB, 6 x WD 2 TB Green, 2 X WD VelociRaptor 600 GB, 11 x WD 2 TB Black. Unsure about Roxio.
But Nero does work just fine in Windows 7 x64 without the need for compatability.
Look at the Nero log for some more info.
Im curious how you got Nero to work on 3 other OS'es all at the same time?
Patent Activation will only allow 1 activation at any given time. If you try on another, it deactivated the previous, after a prompt. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom (Self Build) OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core i7 2700k Motherboard eVGA P67 SLI Memory 8GB Mushkin Redline Ridgebacks @1866 Graphics Card EVGA GTX570 SC Sound Card XiFi Titanium HD Monitor(s) Displays LG W2453V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Saitek Cyborg PSU Seasonic x750 Case Corsair 600T SE White Cooling eVGA Superclocked CPU Cooler Hard Drives Intel 320 80GB -- Intel X25-V 40GB --WD Black 1TB x2 -- WD Blue 640GB Antivirus Kaspersky Browser IE Other Info LG BD/DVD |

I only use one OS at any one time. They are all on the same physical computer, just using a different boot drive for each OS in a removable drive case. Nero installed OK on my Vista Ultimate x64, but refused to complete the install under Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I noticed that in both Roxio and Nero, they tried installing some extra programs, some of which were windows specific, but then the install would quit before completion. I was using Nero 9.4.26.0 Ultra in Vista, but was trying to use trying to use my copy of Nero 10.0.13100 in Windows 7. This way, I would have Nero work with both, but wanted the latest for Windows 7. So far, I have not had any luck in completing either Roxio or Nero installs. Eventually, I will probably use Windows 7 Ultimate x64 as my main OS, using Windows XP Pro x32 for those hardware which will not work under x64 OS's. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Homebrew OS Win7 Ultimate x64, openSuSE 12.2 x64 CPU AMD FX-8150 & AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE Motherboard ROG Crosshair IV Extreme & M4A79 Memory Muskin XP3 Enhanced Redline - 16 GB & Muskin XP2-6400 - 8 GB Graphics Card ASUS Matrix ROG 5870 Platinum 2 GB & Radeon EAH 6850 Sound Card Razer Barracuda AC-1 7.1 c/w Razer Barracuda HP-1 Gaming HP Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2407 WFP, Dell 2408 WFP, Dell U2410 Screen Resolution 1920 x 1200 - All 3 monitors Keyboard Logitech diNovo Edge x 2 Mouse Logitech MX Revolution, 2 x Logitech Wireless Trackball M570 PSU Corsair AX 1200 x 2 Case Lian-Li PC-77FB & Lain-Li PC73SL Cooling Noctura NH-D14 & Thermalright Silver Arrow Hard Drives All SATA, 7200 RPM. 4 x WD 500 GB, 6 x WD 2 TB Green, 2 X WD VelociRaptor 600 GB, 11 x WD 2 TB Black. Are you attempting to have one location on a separate shared drive for each app install, or are you attempting to install the apps to the removable (OS) drive individually (preferred)? If your installations are failing, a little more info on the failures would be useful, also, an MSI log of a failed install would also be helpful. Setting up MSI logging in Windows 7 is the same as it was on XP. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Z400 workstation OS Windows Server 2008 R2 CPU Intel Xeon 3550 @3.06GHz Motherboard HP Memory 16GB DDR3 Graphics Card Nvidia Quadro 600 Sound Card Realtek ALC262 Monitor(s) Displays 2x Hanns-G HG281 Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Keyboard Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 7000 Mouse Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 PSU HP Case HP Hard Drives 1x Samsung 160GB SSD

Birdman, I was going to suggest contacting Nero, but I decided to do it for you. According to the Nero representative I am talking to, installing on two separate partitions or drives is a violation of the End User License Agreement and it will not (intentionally) allow you to use the same key on more than one install on a multiboot system. Installing on a separate OS is a separate install, even of the hard ware is exactly the same. Even if the OS was exactly the same, it is not allowed. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba P775-S7100 OS Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit CPU Intel Core i5-2450M @2.5 GHz Memory 6 GB DDR3 1333MHz Graphics Card Intel HD 3000 Monitor(s) Displays Built-in 17.3" LED; 22" Insignia NS-L22Q-10A Screen Resolution 1600x900; 1360x768 Hard Drives 750 GB Hitachi

I have Roxio Creator 2010 Pro running on my 7x64 Home Premium setup, so it will work with 7 x64. According to the "About this Software" window mine is Version 1.2.193. SP2; 5.0.0.0. I do believe I've auto updated at least once so I'm not sure what the original version was. It's actually prompting me to update again now that I've fired it up. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7 Ultimate AMD64 CPU AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition Deneb 3.7GHz Motherboard Asus M4N68T-M V2 µATX Motherboard Memory 8GB 4GBx2 Kingston PC10600 DDR3 1333 Memory Graphics Card BFG NVIDIA Geforce 220GT 1 Gig DDR2 PCIe Sound Card VIA VT1708s High Definition Audio 8-channel Onboard Monitor(s) Displays 2 x 19" I-INC AG191D TFT Flat Panel Screen Resolution 1280x1024 x 2 Keyboard Logitech Internet 600 Mouse Logitech Wireless Trackman Wheel PSU Retail Plus 465 Watt Case Power Up Black ATX Mid-Tower Case Cooling Stock heatsink and fan Hard Drives 500 Gig WesternDigital SATA-300 Drive Internet Speed 80 Mbps Down 30 Mbps Up Antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials Browser Internet Explorer 10 Other Info HP DVD1040e Lightscribe - External USB2 |

Thanks for the clarification.
I remember it being only allowed 1 at a time, and even a clean install of the OS counted as a re-activation (even though same PC)
Multiple OSes would certainly be a issue with just 1 licence key.
Birdman,
Each time you use it, on a different OS will mean activating it. This means others get deactivated.
Just remember, you only get a certain amount of activations (I think its 5)
So you need to choose where you want Nero Installed, or purchase additional licenses for each OS. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom (Self Build) OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit CPU Intel Core i7 2700k Motherboard eVGA P67 SLI Memory 8GB Mushkin Redline Ridgebacks @1866 Graphics Card EVGA GTX570 SC Sound Card XiFi Titanium HD Monitor(s) Displays LG W2453V Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Saitek Cyborg PSU Seasonic x750 Case Corsair 600T SE White Cooling eVGA Superclocked CPU Cooler Hard Drives Intel 320 80GB -- Intel X25-V 40GB --WD Black 1TB x2 -- WD Blue 640GB Antivirus Kaspersky Browser IE Other Info LG BD/DVD Programs Will Not Install Win7 Ultimate x64 problems?
