From talking to friends it seems that XP is not having this problem. It definitely has to do with this new Hotmail, that's for sure, but how to fix it is beyond me. I tried uninstalling and reintalling, it does nothing. I thought of a system restore but that would retore the old Hotmail, that got done without my knowledge. I never knowingly installed any 'new' Hotmail, it just happened. Have you tried anything at all to fix it? | My System Specs |

Hope this helps,
Captain No dice on this, either I'm doing a third clean installation, however, so maybe that will last. I will update in the morning and see if WLM is still working. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard/HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU Intel Core2 Duo T6400 @ 2.00GHz Memory 4.00GB Graphics Card Mobile Intel 4 Express Chipset Family Sound Card DIT High Definition Audio Codec; High Definition Audio Devic Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 |

It may have something to do with the fact that you are able to access your contact list and chat with people through the Hotmail webpage? I've done a system restore and that didn't fix WLM for long. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard/HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU Intel Core2 Duo T6400 @ 2.00GHz Memory 4.00GB Graphics Card Mobile Intel 4 Express Chipset Family Sound Card DIT High Definition Audio Codec; High Definition Audio Devic Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 |

i've found out if you dont have the (remember me, and remember my password) options clicked on you can sign in and out without any problem, its when just 1 or both options are clicked that WLM FU**'s up. but that means you have to type your sign in name in and password everytime you want to log on | My System Specs | | OS windows 7 CPU AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual core processor 4800+ 1.40GHz Motherboard Not sure, and dont know how to find out Memory 4.00GB ram Graphics Card NVIDA GeForce 9800 GT Sound Card Realtek AC'97 Audio Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor/ Sony 17" flat panel lcd HS74P Screen Resolution 1280x1024 (Recommended) Keyboard compaq Mouse logitech wireless mouse Hard Drives not sure and i dont know how to find out Internet Speed DSL |

Hello,
After clean install try this version. It's the Beta Windows Live Messenger beta if nothing works then create a new Windows user profile and test it under that account and see if that works. If that fails then i would say you can go for an Alternative messenger like Digsby = IM + Email + Social Networks

windows live messenger stopped working I just checked my Norton scan history and I see repeatedly the same thing. I have no idea if this is relevant or not. It says...
unused port blocking has blocked communications. Inbound TCP connection from remote address local service port.
Does this make sense to anyone? | My System Specs

- Captain It looks like Beta is functioning properly. It has been installed for over an hour and is still working. I was able to exit and re-open it with no problems. It's ugly as hell, but it works Thank you so much for all of your help. I'll post back if something goes wrong. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Hewlett-Packard/HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU Intel Core2 Duo T6400 @ 2.00GHz Memory 4.00GB Graphics Card Mobile Intel 4 Express Chipset Family Sound Card DIT High Definition Audio Codec; High Definition Audio Devic Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 |

windows live messenger fixed I have finally got messenger fixed although I did several things and am not quite sure which one did the trick.
I went to the control panel and right clicked on each separate windows live program....Essentials, Sign-in Assistant, Live Sync and Windows live Upload Tool, clicked 'repair' and/or 'change'. I had previously only tried repairing Windows Live Essentials.
I then ran my Norton Utilities scan, reg cleaner etc. rebooted and Messenger is working and hopefully will continue to do so.
Not sure which was the fix but I tend to think it's the repairs in the control panel.
Hope this helps someone. | My System Specs | | Windows Live Messenger Will Not Open problems? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:45 AM.
