    Software install failure error 0x80040201

    The entire error message reads:
"System does not have a parser for RTF files (IFilter) installed, Viper install attempt failed with error: “An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040201)) - Contact system administrator." ---- I'm really lost and not savvy enough to know where to start with this. Is it the software (free) or my system or a fatal combo of the two? - Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong area - will accept advice and direction. Sure would appreciate the help. Thanks much. AA

    Response to software install failure

    Hi Ken,
Thanks for responding. I installed Microsoft office 7 a short time ago and have to have a microsoft helper on the phone for two hours getting it to work. My firewalls have to be as low as possible for outlook to work. I installed office ultimate on my windows 7 system. (I'd like to get a quickie windows 7 for dummies lesson at some point to...I've read everything but the duplicate/triplicate set up of folders is still confusing to me.) I'm on a Dell Studio 17 laptop - 2 duo processing, 4GB memory, 500GB hard drive. The software I'm trying to install is "Viper" a free plagaerism checker download similar to the "turn-it-in" system. It seems to be a reputable program designed by folks trying to work the bugs out - but I don't think this is the software's issue. I'm probably not answering the right questions, but if you ask, I'll do my best to answer. Thanks again for taking the time. A.A.
