How can i monitor my download usage?

Hi everyone, I have just signed up with virgin bb and i have a download limit of 40gb and i just wanna monitor my usage so i dont go over it. I dont really download a great deal if im honest, i may browse the web like 4 hours a day, I use my xbox live quite a lot and i have just signed up to sky player on my xbox so i can watch live tv which will use up some bandwidth.

So just wanna know if you think i am likely to go over my limit with wat i do as mentioned above and wat little program i could use to monitor how much i have used.

    Thanks a mill

You should be able to log into your account online and check your usage and some ISP's even give you programs that will monitor the usage if your lucky.

Another thing you might want to check is Net meter which is a Firefox Plug-in that monitors your usage and displays it on your toolbar.

Craney, you do realize watching streaming TV can get you quite fast over your 40 gig limit?

I watch streaming TV from my native Finland here in Germany. My TV provider offers the stream in 1, 2 or 8 Mpbs. Using the best quality, 8 Mbps, a 30 minute soap takes about 1 gig, a movie anything between 3 and 5 gigs. 1Mbps is too poor quality, I don't use it, but even using 2 Mbps a movie takes easily 1.5 gigs.

    Just my 2 cents...

I also had same query but i found solution .
You can use BitMeter. Its freeware & alert you when ur download limit will near to exceed. I also have virgin connection but with only 2 GB limit .
You can also use Bandwidth Meter & netmeter, but its trail version. It have more advance features like email, sound alert etc.

I am using both bandwidth meter on trail & bitmeter. If bitmeter will fulfill my requirement then i will through out the bandwidth meter, why should i waste my money on this?

Any tracking app will only show the data downloaded to the computer its runing on. In order to monitor your entire house, all downloading must be routed through a single point. (ie. firewall)

Again, this is only going to monitor your computer usage, not your xbox.
