A Guy I downloaded it.. then tried to install the last version. from your link
It stopped installing at 45%.. It looked like it was slinging pages.. but never finised so I clicked it closed.. came to report .

I'm wondering if that long list of all the Java items is why this last version won't complete installing.. remember I have 4 or more pat of this version in that long list.

It's hard to say what all you have now. Not sure why the install hangs. You can try the next to newest version, etc. I understand you not wanting to get rid of what you have :) But that version is older, and no doubt has insecurities, just so you are aware. A Guy

Can you go to C:\program files\Java\jre6\bin and see if you have the javacpl.exe? If so, click on it and see if your java console opens, or still error. A Guy

Yes, that is your Java control panel. The Java icon in your Control Panel may be working fine too.

That Java isn't the very newest version, but it is secure. Perhaps when the next version is released, it will update ok. Or you may try update 21 at another date, and it will work. Heck, it's worth trying it again now if you want, no harm. At some point, suggest running JavaRa and remove the older, insecure version. Also run PSI and see what it says about Java, when you feel like it
