Once you assign a permanent password all your brother would need to do is have TeamViewer set to load up along with Windows minimized to the System tray and all you do from there is log on and enter the permanent password you both agree on. That's it!

Here I have to start TV up manually on the main Ultimate case while seeing it auto load with Windows when powering up the 7 Pro case. The TV icon is hidden from view in the System tray and the popup on the right side of the screen once you log onto the next machine can be hidden as well by clicking the small arrow on the left tab.

You can actually log onto the next machine and not even be noticed once the popup is hidden. Then when help is needed you simply bring up the minimized desktop view of the other machine.

In fact when two people who are always asking for help showed up over the weekend I simply left the Pro case running and had them look at both machines as I explained the idea of remote help! "Don't you; have to be right there to know what the problem is?" No not when the problem(s) have already been detailed!

Thanks Night Hawk so then I will have to prearrange a time with him somehow via email or phone probably best. Or like you say perhaps get him to leave his machine running while out cos it is a 10 hours behind time between us.

My work days are awkward in that I can only access him during our evenings. Anyway at least I know what I have to do now.:)

The way it worked here was after first connecting to the 7 Pro case from the Ultimate one I saw the message while on the Pro case about assigning a permanent password rather then constantly entering the random generated password seen by default. TV was already installed on both systems while the prompt was on the second machine which you may run into there as well.

The security options are great however since you can set one up not to see any remote access to except for viewing the desktop on that machine while being able to readily access and control the "partner" machine. I did have it set for control over the Ultimate build for the initial look over and posted the screens from how each looked while on the other machine.

There you would likely see it as an option and not auto start on either machine but started and minimized for a specified time period even if your brother is away at work or other. This would be the best move to protect both from any possible outside interference if someone or thing did manage to get past the security level it as well as simply not leaving either machine exposed while not attended.

I looked at a good number of others like VNC and TightVNC and found them required manual IP and other configuration while the TV was a "piece of cake" to use! That's the plus side without any doubt as to how simple it is to set up and run.

I posted a very detailed "You are blacklisted or not whitelisted by this partner". issue. I clicked "post Quick Reply" and never saw it. As soon as I have time, I will try to remember all the details and post it again. This kind of thing is what discourages people from even bothering w/the internet.

Hi rich and welcome to W7 Forums

Where did you make this post? I've not seen any sign of it, and your post above is the only one that you've made. Did you stay on the same page and wait for your post to appear after you clicked Post Quick Reply, or did you click it and then navigate away without waiting?

Okay here we go again, one last try.

First of all your tutorial is fantastic. However I am having the "You are blacklisted or not whitelisted by this partner". issue and nothing here has helped. I have 1. a main computer, 2. a laptop, 3. a second computer, and four (4-7) remote client computers. Scenerios follow (I will be happy to provide screen shots etc):
    1. From my main computer I select a second (local) computer(#3) and press "Connect to partner", the resulting message is "You are blacklisted or not whitelisted by this partner". ; I then simply double click the same computer(#3) on the "Computers & Contacts" screen, and that computer comes up on my screen--no problem.
    2. From my main computer I select one of the remote computers (#4) and press "Connect to partner"--results are as above; when I double click that parter I am taken to the logon screen for computer #4; I log in and have access to that computer
    3. From my secondary computer (#3), I select my main computer and press Connect to partner--I am connected, same result if I simply double click the main computer. I am also able to connect to the remote computer (via pw and logon) #4 using either method
    4. I am not able to connect to my home (main) computer from any of the remote computer from any of the remote (4-7) computers.
Additional info: I have assured that TeamView is configured identically on all computers and that it is the current version (V7.0.14563). I have tried all the suggestions listed on your thread. I am running a PC with M/S OS 7 (up to date).

My penchant for obfuscation notwithstanding, I will appreciate any assistance you can provide. There is a candle at my church jus waiting to be lit in your behalf.

    thx

ps: yes, I remembered to copy this missive before pressing "Post Quick Reply"

Your problem there is likely something best taken up with the TeamViewer support since you may have exceeded what the free version supports. In the settings you can set a predefined password between machines in order to see the auto logon rather then running into odd messages.

I wouldn't worry so much that you have the latest version of Windows on until 8 arrives that is since the TV program supports Legacy as well as the more current versions of Windows.

    Which operating systems are supported?

TeamViewer is available for the following operating systems:
    Windows

    1. Windows 98/NT(Service Pack 6a, at least IE 5.5)/Millennium Edition
    2. Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
    3. Windows Server 2000/2003/Home Server/Server 2008/Server 2008R2/Home Server 2011

    Mac OS
    1. Mac OS X 10.4 and later (including Mountain Lion)

    Linux
    1. Red Hat, Fedora, Suse, Mandriva, Debian and Ubuntu

    Mobile devices
    1. TeamViewer for Remote Control: iOS (for iPad please use HD App), Android version 1.6 and later
    2. TeamViewer for Meetings: iOS, Android version 2.2 and later
    3. TeamViewer QuickSupport: Android version 2.3 and later on Samsung devices with original Samsung firmware

You can that as well as other information in the TeamViewFAQ pages.

I have used Team Viewer (TV) 6 fine in the past. I reinstalled it on a new w7 and there is a reminder of a new version, TV 8, so I installed it. I went through and made all my settings, the TV window won't close with the X button. I either have to reboot or use Task manager and End Process Tree several time, it keep restarting. that's one issue.

The second thing is when I opened TV again the language was in Russian, Klingon, or something and I see no option to switch back to English. Any help with these?
