Can I Install Macintosh On A Seperate Hard Drive?

Hi, I have an extra hard drive and an old mac OS X install disc. I was wondering if somehow I can install it on my extra hard drive and keep my windows 7 OS all in tact. What i'm aiming to do is just be able to slide in the hard drive with macintosh installed on it into my PC if I ever want to use mac.
Can you explain how or if I can do this?
