DirectX Setup - A Cabinet File Cannot Be Trusted?

PLEASE READ UPDATED MESSAGE UNDER "EDIT".

    Hi,

I can't find a section for DirectX issues so i figured i'd post it here.

Anyways, i'm trying to update/download ( idk what i'm doing ) DirectX but i'm getting an error.

Downloaded the file from here : Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime

Some assistance/explanation please. This could possibly ( what do i know ) be the reason why i can't install Sound Forge on my Windows 7.

    Thank you !

    Edit :
Guess i was too quick to post the issue without trying something else ( yet again )
I just downloaded a different ( maybe similar ) file here - Download details: DirectX Redist (February 2010) and it's working fine.

Sorry, please mark this as solved. :)

The first one you tried is a (small) web installer version. It starts the install but the actual program is installed over the WEB. The second one that worked, is referred to as the redistributable package. Its the full download. Its the one I go for and save to a thumb drive. It installs locally without having to have an INTERNET connection. Once downloaded it is a faster install and saves time if you are going to install it on more than one machine. It sounds like your INTERNET connection was acting up during your install and one of the downloaded cab files got mangled. I personally tend to avoid the web installers and go for the full monty when I
    can.
