MSE annoying issue does this software ever updates "silently" ?
E.g when you are running a full screen game etc. The MSE updates itself but at the same time , it shoots you back to the desktop screen as well. This is quite annoying and not the way i want it to be.
I have no issue with the avast program. It has this nice feature of updating silently whenever a full screen application is running.
any other way to get around this MSE annoying problem ?
I'm not sure if the new beta version corrected this problem , i have not tried yet.

maybe this problem is corrected in the beta version which I'm running. I'll set the update to as short a period as possible and to automatic (I normally use manual.) and see what happens. Will get back to you after an update period has passed. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite L305D laptop OS MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit CPU AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-64, 2100 Mhz, 2 Cores Motherboard TOSHIBA Portable PC (Socket M2/S1G1) Memory 4.0GB (2x2GB) DDR2 @ 333MHz 5-5-5-15 Graphics Card ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics (Toshiba) Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor @ 1280x800 Screen Resolution 1280 x 800 Keyboard standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse HP Wireless Optical Mobile Mouse Model FHA-3410 Hard Drives 125.03GB Corsair CSSD-V128GB2 ATA Device (IDE)

If I'm not mistaken, MSE gets its updates through Windows Updates. If Windows Updates is set to "Install updates automatically (recommended)" then it might interrupt whatever it is you're doing. For that reason I leave my Windows Update set to "Never check for updates (not recommended)" and run a manual MSE update in the morning and again in the evening. I'll also do a manual Windows Update scan a couple of times a week for everything else. Yes, it's a bit of an inconvenience but it works for me. Some folks configure Windows Updates to "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them." | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell Vostro 1520 OS Win 7 Pro 32-bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T6670 2.1 Ghz Motherboard Dell 0T808J Memory 4GB DDR2 Shared Dual Channel SDRAM Graphics Card nVidia GeForce 9300M 256MB Sound Card IDT High Definition Monitor(s) Displays 15.4 WGXA Anti-Glare LED Screen Resolution 1280x800 Hard Drives 320Gb 7200rpm SATA w/ free fall sensor |

Since I've never seen the screen, I've also set scans to daily to hope to see what he is referencing. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite L305D laptop OS MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit CPU AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-64, 2100 Mhz, 2 Cores Motherboard TOSHIBA Portable PC (Socket M2/S1G1) Memory 4.0GB (2x2GB) DDR2 @ 333MHz 5-5-5-15 Graphics Card ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics (Toshiba) Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor @ 1280x800 Screen Resolution 1280 x 800 Keyboard standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse HP Wireless Optical Mobile Mouse Model FHA-3410 Hard Drives 125.03GB Corsair CSSD-V128GB2 ATA Device (IDE)

Quote: I was wondering if he's done following:
Updates are a once per 24 hour check on a schedule determined by MSE. There is no setting within MSE to change the scheduled time or frequency.
Optionally, you can add a check for updates by setting check for updates before scan and setting up a scheduled scan daily (for a time when the PC will be on as it won't run a missed scan later). I'll try things that way and see what happens. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite L305D laptop OS MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit CPU AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-64, 2100 Mhz, 2 Cores Motherboard TOSHIBA Portable PC (Socket M2/S1G1) Memory 4.0GB (2x2GB) DDR2 @ 333MHz 5-5-5-15 Graphics Card ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics (Toshiba) Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor @ 1280x800 Screen Resolution 1280 x 800 Keyboard standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse HP Wireless Optical Mobile Mouse Model FHA-3410 Hard Drives 125.03GB Corsair CSSD-V128GB2 ATA Device (IDE)
