Hallo McSeven, as well as the good link Lasy B provided you will need to go into Task Scheduler and disable or delete the tasks for google updater
I do have Google Earth installed.
Ok found two entries for Google. Killed them. Will see how things go.
Thanks to all.
I usually just delete the updater executable, I hate that thing. But the legitimate ways should work too. Have to stop it in msconfig startup, task scheduler, and even then the google product will still probably start the updater when you run it next. Possibly even restoring it to those places you removed it from.
How would one get rid of the Google Updater service in services? I've never installed google software and I noticed the services sitting there the other day. There is no google software currently installed either. The description on the services state that they are uninstalled automatically when google software is not using them. This doesn't seem to be the case. They show as Google Update Service(gupdate) and Google Update Service(gupdatem).
Go to the services console and locate google update service, stop the service if its running. Now, click start button and in the Run box type:
sc delete servicename
(where servicename is the name of the service). Hit Enter. Usually the servicename is gupdate or gusvc.
Hello shadedarkan and welcome to Seven Forums.
Couple of things you might try.
1. Right click on Computer > Manage > expand Service and Applications > click Services > find Google Update services > disable.
2. MSCONFIG > disable Google Update in Startup
3. Navigate to C:\Program Files\ (and look for) Google\Google Updater\GoogleUploader.exe
You could rename the .exe to something else like .xex in case you ever decide you want the updater service back again.
4. Use REGEDIT to find/delete googleupdate
EDIT: Once again Bill was faster on the keyboard than me
