I am having a problem that seems fairly similar to that which this woman had: Trouble installing iTunes 9 on brand new laptop running Windows 7
Unfortunately, what fixed her problem doesn't work for me.
I brought this brand new laptop home from Best Buy earlier today and I am having many issues with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit): Toshiba Satellite® A665-S6070 Laptops
The first thing I did was install Mozilla Firefox, which went well. Then I installed the Kaspersky Anti-Virus software that came with the laptop, which also was successful. Then I wanted to install iTunes, and I downloaded the correct x86-64 version from the iTunes download website, but for some reason it refuses to do anything beyond the "Do you want to allow your computer to install this content?" screen. Just a few hard drive clicks and that's it. I tried to run the installer as Admin but it still doesn't work. Then, I tried uninstalling Firefox and Kaspersky, thinking that was it, but it still doesn't work.
I have noticed along the way that other pieces of software don't work that should. For instance, I thought maybe I needed to download/install Windows Updates, but it was able to install all but two of the updates. For some reason it keeps failing to install the Malicious Software Removal Tool and another one I can't remember.
I also found that .Net Framework 4.0 fails to install, exiting before the installation begins as a result of an "unspecified error" (very useful info).
I looked up online that maybe this was a result of the Customer Experience program that Windows 7 runs in the background, and there was a guide to remove the registry keys from the registry in order to disable this, but that didn't help either. I get the same problem.
Kind of bizarre, really.
Any help you could give me would be gladly appreciated.
